Lyrics:
remember pencil fights, and not wanting to do right
Staying up late nights, before i learned to beat off
Those innocent times, inspiration for rhymes
Doubling up on pizza. in the lunch line
fantasies about girls, what did i know about sex?
All i knew was something about them, made my penis flex
Remember getting called on, to go to the board
With an erection sticking out, those were the good times
My first rhyme was booty doo, but i thought it was fresh
The bike club i was in, ran hills as a contest
Remember that one girl, you always want to be with
Sporting fades with waves that made ppl sea sick
No way to forget that one fruitful Christmas
When i got a Nintendo and remote cars
I used to stare at the stars, and analyze the sky
Asking the lord was i meant to be here.. Why
Back in the days when i was young, i’m not a kid anymore
…Now or laters, and fruit roll ups…
kool aid in plastic bags, Man i wanna go back
remember pleated jeans, and duckhead shorts
Ellesse, Niagara starch creases
And beatings… man i had my fair share
Levis baggy shorts, i had my one pair
I listened to kriss kross to snoop dogg
Mos Def and Outkast on a heavy rotate
Not to mention dr dre, didnt know UGK
My parents did their best, have to say so myself
Mixed feeling in 99, both my grands died
My first ride was a ford, Festiva to be exact
Never got high in those days, only suffered contact
From the 80’s to the 90’s i valued my youth
shaped up to be a man, lessons from parents to suit
Shaped up to be a man, can call me living proof

Word I’ll be dropping soon! My dude said he’d mix it tonight or in the AM.
We Grow Up [produced by Ocean Beats]

Props on taking on the first Audio Arena battle with me.
Good luck!
Lyrics:
Courtesy of time -
man, life feels short...
Livin’ at a speed
Of a different sort...
Feelin’ like a King
That could win the war...
Just another boy -
Who could lift the sword???
Speak my language -
Learn my lines...
Lead by habit...
..It suits me fine.
If no one does?
I’ll take a try...
Youthful times
Just roll on by...
Every time we’re out -
We’d hit the slope...
Til every time we went -
Was karaoke...
Then every time we left -
We’d hit the bar...
Now every time we go?
It’s for a show...
Mid90’s were so fuuuunn...
But now those times are done...
Your music sounds like OURS -
...No wonder y’all are fucked!!
I think, eventually
We grow up...
Eventually?
We grow up....
Eventually, we grow up....
It was nelly, DMX... Em, and tech...
Heard them kill it at their very best...
Disposable cameras? We were impressed,
Blackberries and chocolates?
What could be next....
South Park... we watched it all tho
When a street light meant “go home”
Bumpin’ Linkin Park on a flip phone -
...back when Sublime was with no Rome -
thinkin bout them times that passed
How delightful they bring it back...
kids are ghosts of Christmas past
Some pop punk, with a bit of trap...
Like a Blink song.. maybe Eve 6
Sum 41... or Fred Durst shit....
All these memories -
come flooding back...
And it seems to make it all worth it.
Mid90’s were so fuuuunn...
But now those times are done...
Your music sounds like OURS -
...No wonder y’all are fucked!!
I think, eventually
We grow up...
Eventually?
We grow up....
Eventually, we grow up....
Bump let’s get some votes!

@malediction This wasn't bad. Interesting beat choice. You checked all the boxes topic wise. Flow was pretty monotone & the scheme work was really inconsistent. Thats the big knock on this track. Usually flow is one of your strong points, at least from what I've seen of your writing. Overall, not bad. But not polished either.
@Cody Nash This was dope. Unique delivery with the sing-rap. Flow was solid throughout. Topic wise, you definitely hit the mark. Honestly, I got no complaints. This was polished & had a funky vibe that added to the nostalgia.

This was a pretty one sided. Mal picked a really dope beat but the adlibs only be on the left side bugged the hell out of me. The monotone, staccato delivery felt disjointed. Never really hit a pocket. The lyrics were good, but the delivery didn’t allow for the lyrics to shine. It just sounded like you talked through the track without much thought given to how it would sound in a song.
Nash killed this. It wasn’t just addressing the topic, it was making a song that I would want to run back. The singing and delivery was dope. Nash coasts to a win here.

Eh... you aren't riding the beat too well... seem kind of sedated... not a ton of style or swagger in the delivery
At times you almost find a bit of a flow but its pretty off beat. The rhyme schemes aren't strong either.
Basically... you can tell you arent completely confident in your performance yet. Still kudos for putting this together and as quickly as you did. Just keep recording... it'll get better as you go.
Cry:
10 seconds in... Stop singing. Now.
You sound super fucking whiny... STOP IT..
STOP IT
Obviously your find a pocket and the flow is solid. Lyrically not bad but you sound like fucking LMFAO or fucking Weird Cody or some shit.
Oh... there we go... you come in with much better delivery.
OH MOTHERFUCKING GOD NO.... STOP IT...
THIS HOOK MAKES ME WANT TO SELF-VASECTIMATE.
Overall this was cool if you put the hook and singing in a trash can, dump all of the lighter fluid in the world on top, light it, wait for it to burn out on its own, dig a whole, bury it, and then nuke the location.
Vote- Nashy (I mean it was just a better track by a much more seasoned rapper...)
Cool shit though, my dudes.

Mal: I did like the beat choice you picked. I felt as far as vocals could’ve been mixed better some parts couldn’t really hear maybe because the flow was monotone I agree. The delivery was choppy as well I felt there were parts where you didn’t ride the beat well. I really think you’re a good concept writer though I always like your conscious rap style but the energy sometimes isn’t there.
Nash: I gotta agree didn’t like the singing too much. When you started rapping I was like ok because I thought you were gonna sing the whole verse. Definitely delivery and flow was on point when you were rapping. Mix was very clean as well. I gotta say if Mals was cleaned up and had more energy I would change my thoughts on this but gotta agree Nash is just more experienced on song making here he’s been doing it longer and just has more cadence.

Cry @Cody Nash thx for the opportunity to battle you ... i want to say tho... some of the stuff ppl point out about my songs is done on purpose .. i'm not going to net rap my self -- sounding like eminem ,,, i dont think i rushed it tho i didnt have mine mixed and mastered like Cry did... i was reeally feeling this but i know if Cry did what i did he would have dominated the battle; ironically
pc. peeps and thanks
