t-pain performed on i think letterman or leno or ellens show n he tore it down, no effects, dude is a real good singer

the t-pain vocal effect is not done with a synthesizer (vocoder) or talkbox... (at least it originally was done with auto-tune... it sounds like they've used a talkbox lately, because auto-tune's response is too sporatic.)
it's done with a plugin called "Antares Auto-Tune"
and here are the settings to emulate it.
