    Police: Ex-boxing champ Forrest shot, killed

    ATLANTA (AP) - Police say former boxing champion Vernon Forrest has been shot and killed in an apparent robbery.

    Atlanta Police Sgt. Lisa Keyes said in an e-mail Sunday that Forrest may have been robbed and was shot "multiple times in the back" Saturday night in Atlanta.

    Keyes says there are no suspects.

    Mark Guilbeau, an investigator with the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office, said an autopsy is planned for Sunday.

    Forrest, a native of Augusta, Ga., who lived in Atlanta, was a member of the 1992 Olympic team. He was also a former WBC super welterweight champion.

    The 38-year-old took two wins over Sugar Shane Mosley in 2002. On Sept. 13, 2008, Forrest reclaimed his WBC 154-pound title by beating Sergio Mora.

    in the back? on the news a few minutes ago, the guy said some dudes ran up to steal his car... forest had a gun on him and chased them shooting... they shot back and he died...

    Forrest was a good dude. I'm not saying that as some empty gay "oh his dead let me say something nice" bit. He was generally a good guy that helped people indiscriminately. So the fact that he was murdered isn't just a lost to boxing it's a lost to humanity as a whole.

    I personally hope the faggot that did this gets whats coming to him.
