I see what you mean, I had the same problems a few years back
well my first advice would be to count your syllables and also notice
that the instrumental consist of 4 beat you know like
(boom, clap, boom, clap) - thats the drum line
then if a bar is 12- 15 syllables give or take a few
well then if you divide 12 by 4 that 3
so around 3 to 4 syllables is a quarter note (1/4 th bar)
and the plan is to hit your rhymes around this divisions
like xxxxxA, xxxxxB, - 1 bar ( x represents syllables)
so around the 6 to 8 syllable ( not always exactly)
is the emphasis which makes the bar divide
and the whole instrumental is created by 4 bars
( with some variations, which mostly occur every 8 bars)
the chorus mostly just has a extra background sound
which makes it a little bit different from the verses, but
the drum line should stay consistent throughout the whole
instrumental.
I hope this helped you a bit.
Count syllables
and see how many syllables are part from your rhymes
this will help you make more different rhyme schemes, so
you don't sound the same on every piece.
And slowly you will get more comfortable with mic
I can sense your uneasiness
