Penn & Teller are obviously really right wing. And truth be told they chose a lot of stuff that people will easily be mislead about, this included. Most people know water as H2O and what it includes Hydrogen and Oxygen. However word association is a powerful thing when you hear monoxide you think of bad things, almost instantly because the thing it associated with most often is carbon monoxide, Carbon Monoxide Poisoning to be specific. So, it's like shooting fish in the barrel when you do this sort of thing. You go to an event that isn't even run by an environmentalist, probably provides little education on some of the matters, and ask people who chose the wrong rally to go to a stupid question with a key word that you know will trigger negative reactions either consciously or sub consciously



Edit also, They said they got what? 100 people to sign? How big was the event? If they got 100 of of 3000 or so people to sign not impressive at all.
