Cool movie. does the franchise justice. Im glad to see face huggers get more of a presence in this one. I always thought they were just as terrifying as the actual alien. I didnt really understand the need for the autistic droid though lol

An armed man is a citizen,
An unarmed man is a victim.
Diversity i guess lol. Autistic and black.

pretty sure the only reason i liked it as much as i did though is cuz Chloe Grace Moretz is sexy as fuck. blonde chicks aren’t typically my preference but something about her makes me wanna let a few million loose on her ovaries.

Kinda how I felt about Ginger Snaps. First half of the movie is way better than the second half. Almost like they ran out of budget and just coasted to the end.
If you're into diversity. I Saw The TV Glow is getting a lot of praise. LGBTQ film. Pays homage to Buffy The Vampire Slayer and is an interesting metaphor/approach about a man who wants to be a woman but is too scared to follow through while his crazy best friend tries really hard to get him to take that step. I wouldn't watch it twice personally but that's probably because I'm a straight white male.

i heard about the Glow movie. read a review from a “cultural reviewer” who called it “grade A psychological horror for a new black generation”. the “for a new black generation” stuck out to me & had me wondering why that choice of wording was used so i decided to check it out, also cuz i like Justice Smith as an actor.. but when i realized it was a transgender allegorical tale written by a jewish woman about a black/biracial dude, i just got turned off immediately. i’m not prejudiced, but i’m really tired of this lgbt agenda being forced down the throats of an entire demographic by writers & showrunners who are not of that culture. same reason i hated Lovecraft Country & the Watchmen sequel show(among other reasons). these jewish hollywood writers/producers love injecting their vision of other cultures into their work & it’s getting old as hell at this point. dumb as hell to try to address the “toxic masculinity” people complain about black dudes by creating fiction that rationalizes it all as stemming from repressed homosexuality or gender dysphoria/dysmorphia lmao. emasculation at it’s finest.
now even though i just went on a tangent about it, i may still watch it.. just probably in a year from now when the single solitary viewing from my account won’t positively affect viewership statistics lmao.
anyway, my bad for the rant. the moment took me.

The director is trans. They said it's a personal movie influenced by their own issues.

i mean, i understand that actors audition for roles & there’s no way of knowing if there was a specific type in mind, but i been finding more & more recently that media meant to depict my so-called “culture” is always rife with homoerotic undertones.
now that i’m thinking about it though, it could also be the tendency of certain social media/news media outlets to just automatically latch onto content that has black actors in it simply off that fact alone, whether it’s made for that audience or not.
either way, it’s madd annoying lol. it’s like black people cant be depicted in media anymore unless they’re gangbanging or gaybanging.

I mean. There's definitely layers in the movie that represents the director lol. You just gotta be a little more open minded. Like I said. It's technically a good movie. Just not a concept I personally connect with.

The guy’s got a real talent for infusing his shit with thematic heft without becoming too lofty to be fun.
On the loftier side of things though, have you ever seen Begotten? That one’s worth a watch, although I saw it on shrooms so I don’t know if I would’ve been as good sober. A black and white arthousey type thing with no dialogue, starts with a scene of a god disembowelling itself.
Even more obscure, there’s a Russian theatre company called BlackSkyWhite who I’ve seen live several times at festivals in England. Industrial music with very strange metamorphic costumes and otherworldly movement, lighting etc. Some of the most intense horror experiences I’ve had in my life (again psychotropics may or may not have played a part in my enjoyment, but it’s sick regardless). If you ever find Astronomy For Insects that one’s a classic, I was lucky enough to pick it up on dvd at one of their live shows.
Alien Romulus was good, loved that it was inspired by Alien Isolation which is probably the scariest game I've ever played once. The last 15 minutes were fucking awesome.

people hate on the Alien franchise but every installment was a banger in it’s own right. even the AvP movies were dope. definitely top 5 horror franchises of all time in terms of quality. top 3 for me.
